Who is Catherine Jones?
Miss Jones was the Librarian at Garfield High School between 1955 and 1985.  In 1985 because of her outstanding and inspirational work, the administration, faculty and staff named the library in her honor. 
 
Top photo on the right: The library at Garfield High School circa 1969. The library was originally located on the first floor of the 400 building (room 412 and the Community Room).  It was moved into the newly constructed 200 building in 1976.

The library is located on the 2nd floor of the 200 building.  
Before & After School
  • The library is open before and after school for services--including checking out materials, accessing computers, and printing.  
During Class time                                           
  • All students who enter the library during class time without a teacher will need to sign in and show a valid pass. 
  • Students will need their school IDs to check out materials
  • Books circulate for three weeks. Need it for longer? Just come in and renew it. You can also return the book before the due date if you wish. 
  • All reference materials (reference books, magazines, slides, encyclopedias) circulate overnight. 
  • All materials may be renewed up to three times unless there is a request for that item.
  • Ten cents a day for regular items and fifty cents a day per item for all reference materials.
  • Late fees max out at $5 PER book.
  • Damaged or lost books will be assessed a fee that is equal to the retail price to replace the book.
