SAS Accept/Waitlist Information

This information pertains only to families who applied to Garfield's SAS program via SAS Permit. This information does not apply to families who are attending Garfield via Zone of Choice.  Please read the instructions below and refer to the communication we have sent you for information on what to do next.
  • Eligible students who live outside of Garfield High School's Zone of Choice may attend Garfield's SAS on an SAS Permit.
  • SAS Permits do not provide transportation; it will be the family's responsibility to get the student to and from school each day. However, all families can apply for transportation on Parent Portal via LAUSD's Bus Transportation for All program.
  • On-time SAS permit applicants will be notified whether they have been accepted and offered a space by mid-March, 2023.  Online applicants will receive that notification via Parent Portal and further communication from us via the parent/guardian e-mail listed on your application.  Please make sure to check frequently and respond.
  • SAS Permit applicants who are not selected will be put on the wait list.
  • If you were notified that your child was "accepted" into the SAS program at Garfield, you must accept or decline your space by April 12, 2024.
  • Families who do not accept their space by the deadline will be "declined" in the system.  All declines are final.
  • You may accept your space in Parent Portal, or by notifying us of your acceptance.  We can then update the system for you.  To accept your space, or for more information on this, please contact SAS Coordinator, Ms. Elizabeth Ruff at [email protected] .
  • Late permit applications will be accepted beginning in February, 2024.  Late applicants may be offered a place in our program depending on space available.
  • We will contact families from the wait/late lists as space becomes available.  Students who are placed on the wait/late list are not guaranteed a spot in Garfield High School's SAS program.  Therefore, it is highly recommended that families make alternative arrangements in case your child does not get offered a space in Garfield's SAS program.
