UCLA EARLY ACADEMIC OUTREACH PROGRAM

Hilda Alcaraz a former S-5 of the Mighty Bulldawg battalion and now a graduating senior this year from UCLA. Hilda is involved with the UCLA Early Academic Outreach Program that is designed to help students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds prepare for college admission.

The mission of EAOP is to help students achieve UC eligibility and competively eligibility by successfully completing the UC A-G requirements and college entrance examinations. EAOP staff work at assigned sites including high school, middle school or community organizations located in East LA, South LA, West LA, Pasadena or the San Fernando Valley. Hilda is currently working in the East Los Angeles area and is available at the Garfield High school career center to all seniors that qualify , Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the school hours to include lunch.

Specific duties include assisting with the implementation of EAOP services, conducting college academic advising, demographic and academic data collection, role model presentations, participating in classroom and large assembly presentations to students and parents, participating in special EAOP workshops and meetings in the evening and some weekends. Advisers distribute UC admission requirements, financial aid resources, and college entrance exams.
