Margarita was born on October 18, 1928 in Los Angeles, California to Narciso Talamantes and Macedonia Scott. She lived in Southern California most of her life.

She attended Garfield High School and graduated with the Winter Class of 1947. While at Garfield she participated in Service, Y-Teens (formerly the Girl Reserves Club of the YWCA), and G.A.A. (Girl’s Athletic Association).

Margarita married Van Roy Keener on May 4, 1952 in Montebello, California. She spent her time providing for her children, serving on the PTA, cook, taxi driver, school tutor, Girl Scout leader and disciplinarian. She enjoyed her card games and socialization with her neighbors and friends.

Margarita T. Keener passed away at the age of 87 in 2016. We are grateful for her children having given the library many of the items surrounding her years at Garfield High School, including photographs, report cards, awards, diploma and a rare first, the 1947 Senior Supplement never before seen here.
