good evening my name is Marc shuttle row you're in my class near meeting me on my web page I must have your son or daughter I am their world history or economics teacher for this semester unfortunately we have to meet him during these times via virtual what you can contact me right now on Zoom through my web watch this video and hopefully get the information that you may need for this spring virtual open house first of all I want to thank you for being supportive to your students to hours today and to your son and daughter I know this is very difficult for all and I really really respect and I really really am thankful for all you do at your home for your son or daughter doing a tremendous job making sure that they come to class everyday making sure that they're having the things that they need to be successful I know that this will know for the rest of the year and we are hoping and making sure to move mountains to be able to get back into a real classroom setting of course safety is our first priority and safety is the priority for my students and my family as well so I hope that you understand that we as teachers and the administration in the school is doing everything that we to make sure that those safety needs are provided with that being said there's a light at the end of the tunnel and we can see that we are hopefully going to be getting back into the swing of things in the very very near future we've already started Sports programs at our school which I'm involved with coach football and baseball at the varsity level so it's great to be back and it's great to see are you getting together and having fun participating in sports what the emphasis of academics we want to make sure that when we come back to school that that is brought about in the Forefront do you have any questions about your son and daughter virtual learning or what is going to look like when we go back I'll be happy to answer those questions and I'd be happy to answer what's going on in our classroom on a daily basis even virtually if you have any question here are my office hours that I'm available on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:15 to 2:45 and on Monday from 12:40 to one if you'd like to set up an appointment you can always contact me on my email MDS 0829 at lausd.net if you contact me I'd be happy to get back with you as soon and we can set up a zoom just like we are right here and gently talk about what some questions you might have give you some insight on how we are trying to make sure that our students are not feeling down and despair with their grades because this is a difficult difficult time some of the things that I'm doing in the classroom is implementing I still have a grading scale but I'm implementing on the grading scale when I give the scores to the student I'm not putting a zero in schoology breaks the internet problems we might have a bad we doing well and again in this time the motivation to do things may just not be there for some I completely understand that being said I have either left a blank on the grading in the gradebook or a one next to your son and daughter store if they have not from the assignment in the reason for that is so that they feel and know they can still make I have off information that the students need on something called Google Classroom very familiar with Google classroom and all of the materials are on Google classroom for them to access at anytime 24/7 365 in fact if you were his parents would like to also be on our Google Classroom classroom so that you can see what the assignments are I can add that very very easily simply by getting your email and you too will be receiving the assignments real-time and see when they are due that's a great way for you as a parent to be able to stay connected to our classroom and stay connected even when we come back from darpan this pandemic you'll be able to have a great understanding of what and when your son or daughter's assignments are due if you like to do that again you can come Jack me via email or we can sit down and I can walk you through it on Zoom that way we can stay connected my goal in the class here is to make sure that all of my students are more successful my goal is to make sure that all students are learning the best that they can because everyone deserves to have the best and I'm going to try to do my best to provide that for them if you have any other questions you feel that you need to contact me because you and your your son or your daughter are just having one of those days I am here for you I look forward to getting back in the classroom I look forward to having face to face virtual not a virtual I should say open house and I can't wait to see you and meet you guys in person we can
