AP Statistics (2023-2024)

AP Statistics Exam Day: May 7th, 2024 (Tuesday)
xkcd: boyfriend
The main focus of the class is on collecting, interpreting, and presenting data in a meaningful way. This means that for almost every lesson, we will engage in doing data collections and simulations so that we are looking at REAL data and not some data from a textbook. Of course, given the nature of the "Advanced Placement" label, the class will be fast-paced and challenging, but with an abundance of support that you need to take advantage of.

To no one's surprise, some AP tests do involve understanding topics from statistics (ex. AP U.S. Gov & Pol, AP Biology, AP Psychology) and many of my students have informed me that the coursework benefited them in doing well in their other AP courses/exams as well. This class might be that class that will make you be the on who knows what's going on while everyone else in the class is wondering, "what does statistical significance even mean? and what's a standard deviation? why do these 2-word vocabulary terms have so many letters?"

Have you ever wondered about whether your bag of M&M's has a fair number of colors being distributed? Have you ever wondered about whether you can truly "taste the rainbow" or not, as mentioned in the ads? What about buying a bag of chips/cookies and thinking about whether you are getting scammed or not because you feel like there were not enough chips/cookies inside?

Well, this class might help you find ways to answer those questions!
