PROGRAM:
Garfield’s Computer Science Magnet is an award-winning program for high school students interested in learning the fundamentals, knowledge, skills, and applications of computing processes. Students engage in coding, learning various programming languages, building websites, and creating apps relevant to the ever-changing computing and technological landscape. The program begins in 9th grade, where students take computer science electives with the required core curriculum. Each core course integrates computer science skills and knowledge that students apply as they show their learning. As they progress through the program, they participate in individual and collaborative projects, field trips, and have access to career information. They also take advantage of the multi-faceted experiences offered by the host school to develop personally and further their application of computing skills.
