Wellness Center Awareness Campaign

On May 22, 2013 the Wellness Center at Garfield HS held a "wellness campaign." It was a collaborative effort between Bienvenidos, the arc after-school program, the Healthy Start Program, the Garfield High Support Services staff and the Garfield Administrators.

The purpose of this campaign was to provide our students an opportunity to experience the wealth of resources available at the Wellness Center. As our students become familiar with the services available to them, they will tell others in their family and neighborhood about the benefits the Wellness Center brings to the community. Banners, flyers and PA announcements were used to publicize this campaign.

More than 200 students received a tour of the Wellness Center and had the opportunity to interact with staff and other students in various workshops (art, painting, etc.). The arc after-school provided a DJ for musical entertainment and a taco crew to serve participating students FREE chicken tacos and bottled water.

This campaign was very interactive, students were able to ask specific questions and provide feedback about the Wellness Center at Garfield High School. As an additional incentive for participating in this campaign, students were also able to meet NFL Football draftee Jeremy Aguilar. He was available for photos and autographs.
