How to Create a Tri-Fold Pamphlet

Important: Before you begin putting together a pamphlet, you should have your topic and all research information already put together.

This will tell you how to set up a pamphlet. A good rule of thumb for an informational pamphlet is to use the 5Ws: who, what, when, where, why (and how).

1. Use a blank sheet of paper, fold it into three; sketch out your plans.  Plan out your tri-
fold pamphlet before you start using the computer.
2. Start your computer
3. Open Microsoft word
4. Click on file and click on page set up
5. Click on landscape
6. Change margins: make sure all four margin areas (top, bottom, left, right) are .5
7. Click OK
8. Click on format and click on columns
9. In Presets, choose three (for three columns).
10. Click OK
11. Click on the screen percentage and change it to 50%
12. Now you can see your whole page.
13. Remember! You’re creating two sheets – one for each side of the pamphlet.

                 - Right click the picture
                 - Choose format picture
                 - Click on layout
                 - Select behind text
                 - Click OK
                 - Now you can move your picture anywhere you want by dragging it.

** You can do the same thing with Text Box or Word Art under insert.

Fonts: Don’t forget to look at the different fonts, type size, bold, italics, and
          underline features.

Align:  Use this to align your type (center, left, or right).

Print Preview: Use the Print Preview feature under File to see how your
pamphlet will look before you print it.
