College Prep Seminar B (10th Grade Honors English) (Period 3) Assignments

This is a group assignment. You must remember to include the following on your poster:

* define the virtue

*illustrate a symbol that represents the virtue

*Include a picture of a modern or historical person who represents the virtue.

There is no official homework this week; however, I highly recommend that you do the following to prepare for the CAHSEE:

-Go to sleep early

-Eat a healthy breakfast

-Arrive to school early

 

I am confident that all of you will do well. Take your time and triple check your answers. You can do this!

 

Final Business Letter (it must be typed)

Final Essay- Writing Task 6- Describe the speaker's view of nature in the poem, "Early Spring." How is this view revealed in the poem? Include specific references to the poem in your response.

Monday- No School/No homework

Tuesday- Read Brave New World Ch.16-18 and complete the study questions.

Wednesday- CAHSEE Writing Practice Essay #1- Re-write

Thursday- CAHSEE Writing Practice Essay # 3-Re-write

 

Reminders:

Tomorrow we will meet in the classroom to take attendance, but shortly after, we will be attending the Engineering Presentations in the Auditorium. Get to class on time and do not bring food or drinks into the Auditorium.

                  2. Prepare for your project-it is due tomorrow.

Wednesday: 1. Read the non-fiction article- I will hand it out in class.

                      2. Annotate the article- Use the handout to annotate properly.

Tuesday 1/27/14: Read The End of Utopia- Literary Criticism of Brave New World

                1. Annotate the text.

                2. Complete the Non-Fiction Graphic Organizer.

                1. Prepare 5 Questions for group discussion tomorrow. The questions

                    should be based on the B.N.W. Ch. 7-9 and/or the The End Of

                    Utopia- a critical essay on Brave New World.

 

                    Write the questions on the front of the index cards. On the back,    

                    provide personal notes to answer your questions. Include page    

                    numbers to reference the text.

 

                    Use the Socratic Seminar Question Starter handout to help you
