Resources on Literature at the Digital Library

There are many varied resources for doing critical literary research located within the Digital Library.  However, they are sometimes difficult to find.  The resources located in the Digital Library are listed below.  Just click on Digital Library and this page will remain open allowing you to refer back.
  • American National Biography: Use this to research the lives of important authors
  • EBSCO
    • Newspaper and Magazine Search (You may do an online search for articles on author biographies, critical reviews, or other material that would help your literary research.
    • Literature Resource (Magill): produced by Salem Press, it is the premier literary database, combining MagillOnLiterature and MagillOnAuthors. This database includes all the literary works, reviewed critical analyses and brief plot summaries that are included in MagillOnLiterature, as well as all the biographies and author essays included in MagillOnAuthors.

  • Granger’s World of Poetry
    • This site contains 250,000 poems in full text.  The poems in full text are the most widely-read in the English language, as well as in Spanish, French, German, and Italian. Included also is poetry in Portuguese, Polish, Yiddish, Welsh, Gaelic, and other Celtic languages, as well as poems in the ancient languages: Anglo-Saxon, Provencal and Latin.
      It offers complete coverage of the works of several individual great poets, including the complete poems of Shelley, Blake, Burns, Keats, Marvell, Poe, Unamuno, Heine, Baudelaire, and other major poets.
      Students will also find a wealth of current poetry from some of the best poetry periodicals, such as Poetry Magazine, The Southern Review, and Poetry Northwest.

    • Connects students with reliable information on authors and their works.  It delivers a million examples of full text, indexed and excerpted literature.  It also includes biographies, citations, explanations, overviews and images.
