welcome parents at Wegmans back to school night my name is mr. Garcia and I will be the APUSH teacher for your son or daughter is seven seconds about history let me introduce myself I'm going to miss Wong Garcia I've been teaching at Charter High School for 10 years I've been teaching AP u.s. History for 7 years and fortunately we've been very successful in the class that your son or daughter will will blossom expand our knowledge and their skills class whether they pass the test or not I assure you that they will be more ready for college so I can introduce a course and show you some of the main Concepts that will be working on this year and the first thing I want to share with you is our main goal and Aramingo is the AP exam on May fix at 8 a.m. hopefully at Garfield and so the exam takes about 3 hours and 15 minutes there are four powers to the test of 55 questions that are multiple choice minutes so that means they have to do one minute for question theirs was a for sure response questions that each other questions has three parts in realities 3 x 3 is going to be nine questions that we have to answer in 40 minutes this is 20% of the score on the multiple-choice is 40% of the score after that we have a little break and then come back to continue with a long essay a long essay they have one out of three questions to choose one of the three for 40 minutes 40 minutes to write an essay on the topic well we don't know yet so that's why we have to know everything they also have one document based question they have one hour to complete that so the goal is to for a three or four or five if they scored any of these numbers that you can get a college credit and not have to take that class in college can you so it types your dad Vine you can save money on time let me go over the syllabus for the course does syllabus for the course can be accessed through schoology I'll show you in a minute how to access that so this is AP u.s. For US history so we have 19. So we're going to begin with 1481 which is before Native American and then this time.
