LAUSD participates in International Walk to School Day on or near October 8. Parents and families, school personnel and other community members are invited to walk to school together with their students to generate wider awareness of the importance of physical activity, join in the fun of walking, and identify solutions for personal and traffic safety concerns.
LAUSD supports Walk to School events as a means to promote healthier and safer school zones, and encourages local organization of events by the leadership and parent groups of individual schools.
Garfield High encouraged students and staff to participate, on campus, with a morning walk before class.
