Our Lady Bulldogs won the CIF- LA City Section Division I Basketball Championship against Westchester High School.
Garfield was the Number 1 seed in the Division I playoffs and had to face tough competition to make the finals for the second year in a row. This game wasn't any different. The girls survived a thriller, going to overtime to win. Westchester put on a 3-point show, tying the game in regulation, with two 3-pointers in the waning seconds of the game.
Our Lady Bulldogs responded with heart and desire to win it in overtime 58 - 55!
(In 2015, they won the Division II Championship.)
Notes: Monica Garcia scored 30 pts. while Candy Perez added 16 pts. in the victory.

Monica Garcia scored 30 points, including the decisive free throws, to lead Garfield to a 58-55 overtime victory against defending champion Westchester in the Division I final. Candy Perez added 16 points for the top-seeded Bulldogs (24-8), who won the Division II title last year. Erianna Gowdy and Heyavin Johnson made back-to-back three-pointers in the last eight seconds of regulation and Destiny Brown scored 20 points for the third-seeded Comets (20-14).
