Course Description
•This course has been modified to accommodate distance learning.
•It is designed to introduce students to basic Spanish as well as a bridge to a more complex Spanish 2 level.
•The course introduces everyday language and includes activities to practice all four language skills: reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension and speaking.
•This course is very vocabulary driven. Learning about Hispanic culture also plays a big role in this course.
•Students will be introduced to many of the traditions and celebrations of this culture as well as to how they relate to those in the U.S. Studying up to date information about Hispanic influences in the U.S. and how this is shaping our everyday lives will be discussed throughout the course.
Accommodations and Modifications:
●Class tasks will be broken down into smaller steps
●Extended time will be provided to complete assignments
●Reduced amount of work when appropriate
●Pre-teach: Pre-lesson questions to introduce topic
●Guided videos: Videos that re-teach the lesson will be available on Schoology
●Students will have the opportunity to have Open Book Quizzes and Exams when appropriate
●Availability to retake quizzes and exams if needed.
At home students will need:
●Clear working environment free of distractions
●A timer (available on Smartphones) to help organize their time
●Positive feedback when working on assignments
