Welcome

Greetings Bulldogs and Families,

 

I am Mr. Ruben Torres and I am a Physical Education Teacher for Career and Performing Arts Academy (CAPA) and the Head Baseball Coach. I am entering my 25th year as an educator with LAUSD. I spent my first six years at a middle school and my last 19 proudly here at Garfield. 

 

I have had the honor and privilege of serving the Garfield family in several capacities during my 19 years. I am currently the Head Baseball Coach, which I've fulfilled for 16 seasons. I have also performed Athletic Director duties for six years, Assistant Athletic Director for five years and Testing Coordinator for four years. I feel extremely proud of the progress and accomplishments we have achieved together as a Garfield family throughout the years. We have been blessed with great leadership, community support and most of all wonderful and bright students. I value and cherish the continued opportunity to be a small part in the positive growth and shinning light that is Garfield High School in the East LA community.
