The library is located on the 2nd floor of the 200 building.
Library Passes:
- All students will need to sign in and show a library pass signed by a teacher upon entering during class time.
- Teachers may obtain passes at the library.
Circulation:
- Students will need their school IDs to check out materials
- Books circulate for three weeks. Need it for longer? Just come in and renew it. You can also return the book before the due date if you wish.
- All reference materials (reference books, magazines, slides, encyclopedias) circulate overnight.
- All materials may be renewed up to three times unless there is a request for that item.
Late Fines:
- Ten cents a day for regular items and fifty cents a day per item for all reference materials.
- Late fees max out at $5 PER book.
About the Library
Who is Catherine Jones?
Miss Jones was the Librarian at Garfield High School between 1955 and 1985. In 1985 because of her outstanding and inspirational work, the administration, faculty and staff named the library in her honor.
Top photo on the right: The library at Garfield High School circa 1969. The library was originally located on the first floor of the 400 building (room 412 and the Community Room). It was moved into the newly constructed 200 building in 1976.
